Surfing Mexico
Mexico's Pacific coast is one of the most underrated stretches of surf coastline in the Americas. From the legendary beach break barrels of Puerto Escondido to the long point breaks of Baja California, Mexico offers world-class waves with the warmth, food, and culture that make every trip memorable.
The Oaxacan coast is the crown jewel — Puerto Escondido's "Mexican Pipeline" produces some of the heaviest beach break barrels on the planet from May through September. North of there, Mainland Mexico's coast from Guerrero through Michoacán to Jalisco catches both Pacific groundswell and southern hemisphere energy.
Baja California offers a completely different experience — desert points, kelp-lined reefs, and a rugged coastline that feels a world away from the tropical south. And all of it sits within a short flight or drive from the United States.
Best Months
May through October (south swell season), November through March (Baja north swell)
