La Herradura is Lima's premier pointbreak—a long left-hander that breaks in a horseshoe-shaped bay in the Chorrillos district. When solid South swells hit, the wave connects through three distinct hollow sections, offering rides of several hundred meters. It's one of the few quality waves accessible from Peru's capital city, though it needs significant swell size to wake up. The setting is urban but the wave is world-class, and Lima's surf culture was largely born here.

The La Herradura profile favors low tide. Compare this preference with the forecast tide and local conditions before choosing a session.
The La Herradura profile uses wind from NNW (337°) as its preferred direction, with an offshore range of 292° to 22°. Wind speed matters too: light winds outside that range can still produce surfable conditions, while strong offshore winds can make takeoffs difficult.
The La Herradura scoring profile favors swell from SSW (175° to 225°), a swell-height range of 1.8m to 3.7m, and a reference period of 17s. These are model inputs, not guaranteed breaking-wave heights or a promise that the surf will suit every ability.
The main season at La Herradura is May-Sep. A secondary window runs Apr, Oct. Winter (May-Sep)
