Tupira Surf Club is Papua New Guinea's grassroots surf success story—a community-run operation in Ulingan Bay near Madang that offers remarkably consistent waves over limestone reef. The main break is a fun right-hander directly out front that acts as a north swell magnet, rarely going flat during the October to April season. The wave suits all levels with ordinary power but quality shape, making it the most accessible surf in PNG. Beyond the main break, the bay hides several other reef setups including Suaru (double the size), Tawulte (a 300-400m left), and Rurunat (punchy left). Limited to 12 guests at a time, this is community-controlled surfing at its finest.

The Tupira Surf Club profile favors mid to high tide, ideally between 0.5m and 1.5m on the local tide chart. Compare this preference with the forecast tide and local conditions before choosing a session. The profile flags a low-tide hazard below 0.3m.
The Tupira Surf Club profile uses wind from SW (225°) as its preferred direction, with an offshore range of 190° to 260°. Wind speed matters too: light winds outside that range can still produce surfable conditions, while strong offshore winds can make takeoffs difficult.
The Tupira Surf Club scoring profile favors swell from NE (0° to 70°), a swell-height range of 0.5m to 2.5m, and a reference period of 11s. These are model inputs, not guaranteed breaking-wave heights or a promise that the surf will suit every ability.
