São Conrado is one of Rio's best-kept secrets, a beach break beneath the dramatic Pedra da Gávea that Rob Machado once called his favorite wave in the city. The "Pepê" section produces fast, hollow A-frames that barrel over the sandy bottom, rewarding quick reflexes and committed tube riding. The beach is also the landing zone for hang gliders jumping off the mountain above, adding to the surreal Rio experience.

The São Conrado profile favors mid to high tide. Compare this preference with the forecast tide and local conditions before choosing a session.
The São Conrado profile uses wind from N (0°) as its preferred direction, with an offshore range of 315° to 67°. Wind speed matters too: light winds outside that range can still produce surfable conditions, while strong offshore winds can make takeoffs difficult.
The São Conrado scoring profile favors swell from SE (120° to 187°), a swell-height range of 0.9m to 2.5m, and a reference period of 12s. These are model inputs, not guaranteed breaking-wave heights or a promise that the surf will suit every ability.
The main season at São Conrado is Mar-Oct. Best in autumn/winter
