Laje do Shock is one of the most dangerous waves in Brazil, a shallow slab near Itacoatiara that breaks over just 3 feet of water. The wave only works on large SW swells and produces thick, square barrels that detonate with terrifying force. Only a handful of surfers have the skill and courage to ride this wave, as the consequences of a wipeout are severe - the shallow rock shelf has ended sessions and careers. This is strictly expert territory.
