Double Island Point is one of Australia's most magical surf experiences—a long, mellow right-hand sand point that wraps around the headland in the Great Sandy National Park, north of Noosa. On good days, rides of 500+ metres are possible, making it one of the longest waves in the country. The wave is gentle enough for beginners yet fun enough for experts, with a sand bottom and forgiving nature. Access is 4WD only along the beach from Rainbow Beach, adding to the adventure. Surf schools run regular trips from Noosa, introducing surfers to waves they can ride for literally hundreds of metres.
