Ribeira d'Ilhas is competition surfing's European home—a long, makeable right-hand point in the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve that has hosted WSL events and produced some of surfing's most memorable European heats. The wave is more forgiving than neighboring Coxos, with long walls that allow surfers of various abilities to find workable sections. This accessibility means crowds, especially during events and summer months, but the quality is undeniable. The combination of reliable conditions, world-class shape, and easy access has made Ribeira one of the most photographed waves in Europe.
