A seasonal breakdown of the best surf destinations for strike missions around the world.
January-February: North Pacific Power
The North Pacific is at its most active, sending massive swells toward:
Hawaii (North Shore, Oahu) Pipeline, Sunset, Backdoor, Off The Wall. The proving ground of professional surfing. Best for experienced surfers only during big swells. Watch for solid NW swells with light east/northeast trades.
Mainland Mexico (Puerto Escondido off-season) While not peak season, winter can produce surprise south swells from southern hemisphere storms. Less consistent but less crowded.
Japan The Land of the Rising Sun receives quality winter swells. Cold water, uncrowded lineups, and unique cultural experience. Best in Chiba prefecture or Miyazaki in the south.
March-April: Transition Season
Mentawais, Indonesia (Early Season) The season begins with consistent Indian Ocean swells before the crowds arrive. March can be inconsistent but April often delivers. Watch for south/southwest swells.
Maldives Similar window - the southern atolls start receiving swell while crowds are minimal. Warm water, luxury options, and world-class waves.
Barbados The Caribbean's most consistent wave destination. Soup Bowl and surrounding breaks pick up north Atlantic swells through April.
May-June: Southern Hemisphere Awakening

Maldives (Shoulder) The season winds down but swells still arrive. Warm water, fewer boats, better deals on charters.
Portugal The North Atlantic awakens. Nazare for big wave specialists. Peniche and Ericeira for performance surfing. Cool water, good food, easy travel.
Nicaragua & El Salvador Central America's Pacific coast picks up south swells while remaining out of peak hurricane season. Warm water, cheap living, consistent waves.
