Sendai-Shinko is described as one of Japan's best beachbreaks, producing barrelling peaks when solid swells arrive from the Pacific. Located on the Tohoku coast, this northern break catches both typhoon swells from the southeast and winter swells from the northeast. The water is colder than southern Japan, but the quality of the waves—hollow and powerful when it's on—rewards those who brave the temperatures. The Sendai surf community is active and welcoming.
