Saint-Leu (note: possible duplicate of St Leu id 138) is Réunion's infamous wave—a world-class left reef break that hosted WSL events until the island's catastrophic shark attacks led to heavy restrictions starting in 2011. The wave itself is perfection: long, hollow, and mechanical. But surfing here is now essentially forbidden outside shark nets due to multiple fatal attacks. A tragic reminder that even the world's best waves can become inaccessible. Check current regulations.
